The More we all use ai, the more we all look the same

Has anyone else noticed that our excitement to use AI is creating an unexpected side effect? We're all starting to look and sound alike.
I was at an event this week where the presenter proudly shared slides created entirely with AI. The moment the first slide appeared, I knew exactly which tool he'd used—the telltale cartoonish images, cluttered backgrounds, and yes, even misspelled words gave it away instantly.
Here's what struck me: everyone else in the room was applauding enthusiastically. They saw innovation. I saw missed opportunity.
The Problem with "Out-of-the-Box" AI
We've all seen them—the same AI-generated infographics about leadership, cybersecurity, or innovation flooding our LinkedIn feeds. The same visual style. The same generic insights. Often the same spelling errors that reveal no human reviewed the output before hitting "post."
There are countless tutorials on "faceless content creation" where AI agents scan for trending topics, generate blogs for every platform, create images and videos—all without the "creator" adding anything of themselves. At this rate, LinkedIn risks becoming AI talking to AI, reading content written by AI. We'll only log in when we need a job or want to sell something.
AI Should Amplify Us, Not Replace Us
Here's what I believe: AI is a powerful collaborator, but we are the intelligence, creativity, and critical thinking that brings it alive. Not the other way around.
I'm not against using AI to draft emails, create images, or jumpstart presentations. What concerns me is when we use these tools without adding our unique perspective, experience, and voice.
How to Stand Out While Using AI
If you're using AI tools (and you should be), here are three ways to ensure your individuality shines through:
Review with fresh eyes. Wait an hour, then read what AI created. Does it sound like you? Does it reflect your actual expertise and perspective?
Add what only you know. Include personal stories, specific examples from your work, or insights from your unique experience. AI can't invent these—only you can provide them.
Use AI as your first draft, not your final product. Let AI handle the blank page problem, then refine, personalize, and elevate the content with your critical thinking.
The Bottom Line
AI is an incredible tool for productivity and creativity—but only when we bring ourselves to the partnership. Your unique perspective and voice are what make your content worth reading in a sea of sameness.
Don't let AI tools make you invisible. Use them to amplify what makes you different, not to blend in with everyone else.

What's your experience with AI-generated content? I'd love to hear how you're maintaining your authentic voice while leveraging these tools.
